Snack Brands Australia

sustainable future

Here at Snack Brands Australia we’re home to some of Australia’s most iconic snacks and we’re committed to investing in our brands and products to make every bite of our snacks that little bit better. You may not know the name Snack Brands Australia, but we make some of Australia’s favourite snacks including CC’s, Cheezels, Chickadees, French Fries, Jumpy’s, Kettle, Natural Chip Company, Samboy and Thins Chips.

2022 is an exciting year in our history as we announced a $220m investment in a new manufacturing site in Orchard Hills, NSW. This will be the largest single site Salty Snacks plant in Australia As well as creating new jobs in Western Sydney, across construction and manufacturing, the new site will enable us to step change our environmental monitoring and reduce our environmental impact. This will be achieved via reduced emissions, and improved operating standards. The new site will be up and running from 2024. At the same time we’re busy working in the background to deliver on our commitments to our consumers, environment and local communities across a range of initiatives.

In 2022 we’ve continued to innovate and moved to a better for you oil in our Natural Chip Co range, removing 220 Tonnes of saturated fat from the supermarket shelves here in Australia. We have minimised Sodium in our Salty Snack products, helping to reduce salt from Australians diet.

Giving back to the Community we live in is an important part to Snack Brands. We’ve worked with local charities, such as Yume, to divert 14,000kg of good quality snacks from landfill to communities in need.

Supporting Farmers, we have increased prices to assist them with rising costs in labour and fertiliser. In both the current site, and especially in the new site we are making potato and corn unloading faster and safer. We’ve continued to support local potato growers in what has been a very challenging year.

We are investing in more efficient use of water and energy in our current site. In the new site state of the art equipment will be installed which minimises waste and maximises efficient usage of these valuable resources ongoing.

From a packaging perspective, our job is not done and while there are current challenges with the RedCycle program we are committed to ensuring we are reducing our plastic usage and ensuring 100% of our packaging is recyclable by 2025. This will be achieved by removing problematic plastics from our packs and working with partners on solutions for soft plastics.
